Backcountry Use Permits

After a full day of fun and adventure, pitch your tent in Yellowstone’s backcountry or one of the 12 campgrounds. A Use Permit is required for all overnight stays in the backcountry. Permits may be obtained only in person and no more than 48 hours in advance. Permits may be obtained in most ranger stations and visitor centers. For further information regarding camping in Yellowstone’s backcountry please visit the National Park Service website. There are 12 campgrounds in the Park. Seven are on a first-come, first-served basis and five are reservation-only and operated by Yellowstone National Park Lodges.
